Expressive Worship Seminar with Tom Jackson…

If you’ve been around WOP much, you’re probably already aware of my appreciation for live music producer, Tom Jackson… Tom helps performers design their shows to connect with audiences… He’s also an incredible teacher…

Tom has a 2-day Expressive Worship seminar coming up November 6-7 in Brentwood, TN.

Here’s a clip of a previous seminar…

If you’re going to be attending the seminar and would like to contribute to the FieldNotes feature, please let me know.

GiveBack: A New Web-Presence for Arise Ministries…

Earlier in the year, I wrote an article about the ministry of Jack Fairweather in the Philippines.  Jack is establishing an orphanage outside of Manila for kids that are literally living alone on the street.  Since that time, I’ve stayed in contact with Jack and donated some branding, design and social media consultation to Arise Ministries and I’d like to share the results with you…

This is the header image from the new Arise website… The little blond girl in the photo is Jack’s daughter… I encourage you to follow the link and read about the work that Jack and his wife, Tammy, are doing with these street kids.

WOP will be partnering with Arise Ministries to help these kids by continually promoting their ministry.  This is not a paid endorsement… I just really believe in the work that they do and their heart to serve…

Back In The Saddle…

CowboyHey guys!

I put the site on hiatus back in September because of some really demanding projects that were coming up…

Those are still on-going…

Lately, though, I’ve been thinking about WOP and my own desire to make it a really viable resource for artists in the church.  I’m not comfortable letting the busy-work crowd that out of my life.

So, I’m back.

Some changes that you will notice:

WOP has always been loosely guided by an informal board of advisers…  You might have noticed posts authored by the Admin and the habitual use of  plural pronouns (we, us, our)…

At this point, I am taking full ownership of the site and the decisions surrounding it’s direction. This is mainly because no one else really has the vision for it that I do.   Single ownership allows me to focus on the purpose that has driven the site since its inception:

Encouraging artists to use their gifts in worship and ministry…

Encouraging ministries and churches to activate artists…

I’m not eliminating accountability from my ministry, I continue to volunteer and place myself under the leadership of my local church, I’m simply taking personal responsibility for the content and direction of WOP.

This will probably result in more and better content than in the past.

I’m going to add some new features:

FieldNotes is a live-blogging feature that will seek out guest bloggers to comment of concerts, churches, conferences and seminars.

LeadershipIssues will focus on the special needs of church leaders relating to the often unique and challenging experience of working with artists and creative types.

So, if you’re a new Facebook fan or Twitter follower: Welcome!

And if you’ve been around before: Welcome back!

I think we’re going to have a great time together.

We’re Coming Back…

We’ll be rolling out new articles, new artists and new features…

Starting on October 12…

See you then…
